sun is crucial here. little bit of wind isalways good, not too much. we're gonna be workingbreaklines, and we're gonna be fishing anywhere from abouteight down to about 22 feet of water, using a varietyof different kind of baits. and we've actually gotsomething new to show you, a new product from acme, and we'll talk about that a little bit later in the show. hey, and guess what?

we got our good friendsthe quinns with us today. we got ray here, and we'vegot our good friend michael and then their son-in-law,ray's son-in-law. is he a good son-in-law, ryan? - absolutely. - [larry] he's (mumbles). there's not gonna be anyfighting in the boat today, is there? - no, no.

- [larry] that's a good thing. - only if we getthe biggest fish. - okay, that sounds good. and ray, you are knownas the sheephead king. (laughing) but unfortunately thesheephead haven't been biting too well. - well that's good to know. - yes it is.

hey, so it's gonnabe a great day. let's see what happenstoday out here. this bite has been prettygood, and you know what, we're not that faroff from hard water, and that's whatwe're doing out here. we're kind of searchingto see where these fish are biting and try to get apattern down, so when it does freeze up, which it won'tbe too far down the road, hopefully in the nextthree or four weeks,

we'll be out here onsome hard water too. so stay tuned, and let's seewhat happens this morning. nice fish. could be our (mumbles). ooh, that's a big fish. you know, that's a nicepart about this system, is that like i said, younever know what you're gonna catch here. - [ray] oh, oh my gosh, yousee the size of this fish? huge. oh, i thought it was a walleye. - [larry] it's anice bite, though. it's a nice bite.

you know, that's interesting, because i'll tell you what. oh, ryan, you got one too, huh? show that up tothe camera, ryan. there you go. you know what, you talk aboutvariety, and i'll tell you a little bit about something, ryan, and ray, is that-- i lost my train ofthought here for a second, which is unusual. hey, i'll tell you something.

there's a 32 inch sizelimit on pike out here, but about 15, 18 years agothere used to be a lot of pike in this system, and theydropped the water level in the spring, and what happenedis that a lot of these fish got killed. there we go. i just put this newbait on by acme. yep, nice white bass too. now this is a very unique bait.

kind of looks like there'sa couple of other baits on the market thatlook the same way, but this is really very unique, because i got to show you guys, just once i get this outof this white bass's mouth. boy, he just smoked that thing. it's called a hyper-glide, andwhat it is, it's a new bait by acme, and it'svery interesting. it's kind of like a jiggingrepellent, but what happens, it actually has wings onthe side, so what happens

when you jig it up andlet it go back down, these wings will open up, andit actually slows the bait down when you're verticaljigging it, and it kind of just pauses that bait and givesthem fish a chance to hit it. - [man] you might have thebest fish of the day so far. so far you got the best fishof the day, what am i saying? you got that nice pike? why is it spinning? oh, you know what?

- [larry] it's gonna be close. - [man] that one'sgonna be right there. - [larry] oops. oh, i'm sorry. - [man] you almost knockedhim out of the boat with ers. - [larry] you know, that's a decent fish. that's probably gonnago just over 15 inches. let's take a look at this.

now this is a good fish. i'm gonna need the net. this is a good one. - [man] careful, there's a nice fish. there's a nice one. - [larry] got him, ray? - [ray] yep. - [larry] put itright in the water. - [man] there's a nice fish.

- [larry] you got one too, mike? hang on. mike, you got one too? - [mike] i got one. - [larry] holy cow. here, let's get that net going. we might need some more. - [man] yours, that'sa good fish, too. - [larry] ooh, ooh, trynot to line them so--

you got one, mike? - [mike] yep. - [larry] i tell you, wow. this is petenwellflowage, i'm telling you. you know what? some days you can catchquite a few legals. some days you justcatch a lot of fish, but you're alwayscatching fish out here. that's what i love about that.

there's yours, definitelynot big enough. but this one right here, that'sabout 16 inches right there. - [man] it's a nice fish. - that's a nice fish. that's what we came herefor, to get some fish to eat, but also to catch a lot of fish. that's the awesome part. mike, i'll let yours go too. you got the line there.

but it is, this is definitelya lake that you can come to either open water or icefishing, and just catch a lot of fish. a friend of mine's gota real good bait shop called the petenwell sport shop, and it's right inmonroe right there. you can give him a call, matt johannes over there, and he'll tell you if thefish are biting or not, and it's a great placeto buy some bait.

but let's give thisone a measurement with our officialruler here for the day. 16 and a half. - [man] nice. - [larry] nose, 16 and a half. all right. gotta love that. boy, and the fish arejust piled down there. i love this stuff.

see, it pays to keepmoving, keep moving. you said, dan,"stay over there." i said, "you know what? "we're not catchingenough of them. "let's move." - [dan] i didn't say that. - [larry] i heard you say that. - quinn, this one'sfor you, a walleye. - [man] let's seewhat we got here.

hang on a second. ooh, there we go. - [larry] you know, whathappens is that right here, anywhere where the linesget tight, where the breaks are real tight, them arethings you want to look for, but otherwise you can seethis whole jog right here, the lines come tight, andthen there's like a corner right here where it cutsin, where another channel goes back in here.

so this whole stretch righthere is usually pretty good, but this is what i'm looking at. when you're looking at yourmapping chips, and even when you look way up here, anywherewhere that contour where you got sharp corners right, therelittle divots that come in and out, anything that'sdifferent on these lines when you come through, that's the first key places that i go to when i'mcoming out, looking for fish out in this body of water.

definitely, this isa structural-orientedbody of water. lots of, obviously, lots of small walleyes, but there's alsolots of keeper size and a lot of bigfish in this system. unfortunately, what happenedtoday, we only got two legals and a nice pike, anda bunch of white bass, but what happened today, and i say this all the time, when you get real warmweather in the fall like this, and it was cold forabout three days,

we really had some greatfishing when it was cold. then all of asudden it warms up. what happens, the fish go backto more of a relaxed mode, so what you want, youwant that cold days. i know it's a lot nicer, obviously more comfortable being out here whenit's a day like today, but the fish, in myexperience, always bite better when you get themcold conditions, you start gettingthem cold nights.

the only thing that willreally put a damper on things is if you get a day where it'sreal cold and it rains a lot, and that'll drop them watertemperatures in real dramatic, anywhere from fourto six degrees. now that will slow thefishing down a little bit, but typically if you get coldnights, what's gonna happen, and cold days, the watertemperature will drop during the 24 hour period, usually about a degree to maybe two at the very most, and that's what you want.

that puts them fish into ahyper mode, then they want to feed up heavy beforeit gets too cold. hey dan, you know what i'mgonna do on the way home? - [dan] what? - i'm gonna let you drive. and guess what? i'm gonna finish catchingup on rest of the articles that are in the badgersportsman magazine before the newmagazine comes out.

so i got a couple more articlesto read on the way home. thanks buddy, for driving. you are gonna drive, right? - [dan] sure. - [larry] okay, good man. - [dan] maybe you'lllearn something. - i'm mark greene. - i'm patrick lynch. welcome to our all newlynch mukwanago dealership.

i'll tell you mark, i gottaadmit to you, the reason i chose you, and i'm lucky that youwere able to fit me in here, is that i've heard nothingbut great things about you. when i come to business, you can look in magazines and read things all youwant, but word of mouth is such a greatway of advertising. and i've had a couple of friendsand clients hunt with you, and they've said nothingbut great things about you. not that i'm trying to butteryou up to get a great stand,

- right, and they gota four point rule, so you gotta have fourpoints on one side-- - okay. - so it at least givesthose bucks a solid chance to kind of get some ageclass, and that's what we're really here about. scores of bucks are nice, everybody wants that big-- - sure. - but i'm an age guy, andit's like, if you can shoot

those four and a halves orolder, you're gonna retain that quality of class tohave those four and a halves and five and a halvesthroughout the year. - so they can do thebreeding, so you can get them big bucks, right. - right, right. yeah, so it's a mirrorimage of buffalo county. the terrain's no different. it was all kind ofcreated the same way.

- and i've had definitelythe opportunities to fish the mississippi river severaltimes, and i just look at that vast area and think,"wow, there's a lot of "potential here to growsome really big deer." and all the stories and thepictures that i've heard and seen over all the years. yeah, it's one of the kindof things where i'm pumped. - yeah, the quality deermanagement down here has been going on since the early 80s,so with all the land workers

and landowners workingtogether, it's really provided something special in this area. - that's awesome. hey, i know that last weekthe weather's been super warm, and this week it finally startedcooling down a little bit. that's gonna helpthings out too. - your timing couldn'tbe any better. i hope i'm not biting mytongue later on that one, but i checked cameras thismorning and things are
