justin: hey, guys! justin and stephanie withamericanmuscle.com, and welcome to a very special, extra-large, family sized, whateveryou want to call it version of hot lap. stephanie: so, we've got a couple of differentsegments for you guys for this episode. we've got some footage from when we were out atcarlisle all-ford nationals. jalopnik also stopped by and talked to us about how to leavea car show in a mustang without harming anyone, and we've even got a small mustang build foryou. justin: that's right, guys, but don't forgetour 8th annual american muscle mustang show is right around the corner, august 13th, maplegrove raceway. last year's show was 3000 mustangs, 10,000 people. this year's show is gonna beeven bigger. some more special guests are
coming, crazy events, you're not gonna wannamiss it. go to americanmuscle.com/car-show-registration to register your mustang, and we hope to seeyou there. stephanie: but first, check out the footagefrom carlisle. justin: hey, guys! coming to you from thecarlisle all-ford nationals here, 2016. american muscle, this is our second year being hereand we couldn't be more excited. now, the all-ford nationals is a really cool show becauseit's not just mustangs, right? you got the classics, you got f150s, the ford focus andthe coolest thing is how they kind of break it all down, rows of shelbys, rows of saleens, rows of the roush mustang, so it's just a really cool show to be at.
stephanie: and of course, we've got some ofour own fleet favorites here, including our giveaway car, and we've got some pretty sickcustomer cars. i heard ford's got some goodies so we're gonna head over there to show youguys that. so, we've got a lot to cover, so let's get to it. justin: one of the coolest parts about carlisle, every year for us anyway, is checking out the ford performance booth and this year isno different. you actually bring your car in, select your parts, set it up, they'llthrow it on for you here at the show. that's actually something really cool that they do.yeah, there you go. but last year, we actually caught our very first glimpse of the gt350rhere at carlisle. they replaced that one this
year with three standard gt350s. take yourpick, man. i don't know, i'd go gt350r, but again, ford performance always show up andbring a cool rig and this year's no different. stephanie: hey, guys, so we're out here withmanny, and i'm sure you guys might remember his eco-boost mustang from an episode of hotlap. now, you're out here showing your car, right? manny: yes. stephanie: looks like you've changed a lotsince you've last been in the shop with us. manny: we did a little bit. we changed a coupleof little things. we've got the cervini's hood on it. we got the cp-e catless downpipeon the full cat-back exhaust. we went with
the mishimoto expansion tank, custom front-endsplitter, and the canards of course, and just little custom things here and there. so youjust got to stay ahead of everybody. you gotta do your thing. stephanie: yeah, you said you made that yourself, right? stephanie: how long did that take? manny: a weekend. stephanie: oh, just a weekend? manny: a weekend, yeah. a lot of little engineering, you know what i mean? like they say, you gotta measure twice, cut once. so that's prettymuch it, yeah.
stephanie: okay, there you go. well, it looksgreat. i must say, your car looks great. so i heard a little rumor that you've had a lotof success with shows with this car, right? manny: we...so far, thanks to the car gods,we're actually doing pretty good. stephanie: good, well, we wish you the bestof luck. thanks again for talking to us. manny: thanks a lot, i appreciate that. justin: all right, guys, we've got a familiarface in the booth this year. you guys actually might remember nate from last year. we gothis 2015 gt back in here. tell us about the car, man. nate: i've teamed up with roush this yearwith their front fascia, rear spoiler and
side scoops, and md wheels, of course, airride suspension through airlift. justin: it looks pretty good, man. you'vegot corsa stuff on here of course as well, one of the best systems around, and then youactually changed the wheels up a little bit. they're the same 551cs, but you changed thecolor. nate: yeah, they were bronze last year. thisyear, i went with a blue color and i added the gold lug nuts. justin: i forget how many damn mustangs you'vehad by now, what number is this, man? nate: five. justin: five? okay.
nate: yeah, a couple terminators, gt500s,and then this. justin: you're just checking them off thelist. nate: one by one. [horn blowing] justin: that is awesome. people get the hellout of the way when they hear that. nate: yeah, it's pretty fun. justin: all right, guys, we're at the am boothhere, carlisle 2016. of course we brought some fun toys. we've got the terminator, theshelby gt500, some very cool customer s550s, but the star of the booth, at least in myopinion here, is the 2015 gt that we're giving
away as part of our 10th anniversary sweepstakespackage with americanmuscle.com. you have to go to americanmuscle.com/win for your chanceat this, but guess what? this is only one part of the equation. we're also giving awaythis thing. that's right, the brand new 2017 ford raptor. i mean, look at this thing, right?they're not even available to the public yet. we're catching up with it again, here at carlisle.we saw the team, of course, and i'm still just drooling all over this thing. again, twin turbo 3.5 liter eco-boost motor, power in the mid-400s, same kind of torque, liftedthree inches thanks to that fox racing suspension, just an amazing machine, ultimate daily driveror tow rig, of course, and don't forget, guys, this thing could be in your driveway. go toamericanmuscle.com/win for your chance at
the americanmuscle.com 10th anniversary sweepstakesgiveaway. but stephanie is actually checking out a very cool car as well, so let's go seewhat she's looking at. stephanie: so we're here with a beautiful2017 ford gt and you can see it here behind us, and we're also here with mike from fordperformance. now, you have a few stats on this car for us, don't you? mike: yep. the new ford gt will come witha 3.5 liter v6 eco-boost engine, pushing just over 600 horsepower. stephanie: just enough to have a little bitof fun with, right? mike: right.
stephanie: now, i know there's been a lotof speculation as far as production. do you have any word for us on that? mike: they're thinking that it's gonna bea few hundred within the next few model years, but it's still up in the air as to what it'sreally gonna be exactly. stephanie: okay, and possibly, this car isavailable late summer, right? mike: yep, hopefully. stephanie: okay. so, guys, keep your eyesopen. you might get lucky enough to see one of these bad boys on the street sometime soon. justin: all right, guys, before we get outof the ac here, we wanted to check out the
focus rs. now, i know we're mainly a mustangand f150 company, but you have to admit this thing is pretty damn cool, right? i mean, the same motor that's in the eco-boost-powered mustang, 2.3 liter eco-boost motor, a littlebit more juice in this thing. and again, all-wheel-drive with the ever cool drift button, how awesomeis that? hit a button, bias all the power to the rear end, slide this thing around, very cool car. i know it's not a mustang or a truck, but i wouldn't mind having one ofthese in the driveway either. stephanie: like we mentioned earlier, thecars here at carlisle are separated really well. so we're walking down the saleen aisleand we came across this beautiful car. now, brian, this is your car, right?
brian: yes, ma'am. stephanie: and how many miles are on this? brian: six thousand miles. stephanie: okay, and tell me about some ofthe other things that this thing has. brian: well, its number 11. it's the lastnumbered car that was produced. it has a couple of unique options. all of the anniversarycars were built all differently. this is the only one with the saleen racing recaro seatsin it, a 4-point harness, and also the leather-padded 4-point roll cage in it. stephanie: wow, okay.
brian: and it's also the only one with thepetcock adjustable suspension on it. stephanie: really? okay, so about how manytimes a year do you think you bring it out? brian: it's been three years since it's beenout of the garage. stephanie: what? you're joking? brian: no, ma'am. stephanie: well, it's a beautiful car. i'mso glad you brought it out. thank you very much for talking with us. brian: thank you. stephanie: all right, so that's gonna be awrap for the 2016 all-ford nationals here
at carlisle. justin: and another great year, of course.we always see some old friends, met some new friends this year. ford brought a bunch ofcool toys. we of course came correct, but now it's time for us to get out of here. soguys, thanks for watching and carlisle, we'll see you again next year. all right, guys, recently our friends fromjalopnik stopped by to help us show you how to leave a car show properly in a mustang, and we're happy to report no one was injured in the making of this segment. check it out. stephanie: all right, guys, so we have ourfriend doug here. you guys may recognize him
from youtube. i know he does a lot of workfor jalopnik. so they wanted to know how to do a burnout in a mustang without harmingany spectators or any people, so they asked dugan to do it. justin: all right, guys, we're here with dougdemuro from his own youtube channel. you've probably seen him on youtube, of course, dailydriving the ferrari, now you have the aston martin. and he actually works for jalopnikas well, does some really cool articles for them. i'm an avid reader myself, so it's actuallyreally cool to have you here today, man. thanks for hanging out. doug: thank you very much for having me.
justin: why are you here? doug: well, there's been a rash of crashesleaving cars and coffee and i don't wanna name names, but it's been mustang people, mostly. here, we're gonna try to figure out if there's a way you can safely leave carsand coffee in a mustang without crashing. justin: in a mustang, not just any mustangthough, our 10th anniversary give-away car, 740 to the tire, 850 to the crank. probablynot the best car to teach you how to do a burnout or how to leave a cars and coffeebecause obviously the temptation is underneath your right foot there, but we'll see whathappens, right? doug: i'm excited. let's do it.
justin: all right. man: rolling, and then a little clap-a-rooni.all right. justin: now we're official. doug: cut, all right. all right, ready? justin: let's do it. yes, that's first andthen... stephanie: let's see if he can drive it. doug: we've got to remember that. justin: thank you, sir. doug: all right, ready?
justin: oh, yeah. doug: okay. now, justin, whoa... stephanie: and he's trying to find the clutch.boom. all right, not bad. not as bad as i thought. doug: justin, now i'm leaving cars and coffee, don't i need to kind of show off for the kids? justin: you know, you have to fight the urge,my friend. it's tough. doug: but they all have youtube channels andthey got facebook, and they've got facebook live. don't i have to show what i can do? justin: those memes will have to wait.
doug: but they're so excited. they're justsitting there and they want me to burnout. justin: don't worry, for every one of us ina mustang, there are 10 others that will probably give in to their peer pressure, so don't feelthe need to be that guy. doug: this is the chance. justin: i would say no. doug: but justin, let's pretend you did wantto leave cars and coffee with a burnout, can you please show us how that would look? justin: i'd be happy to. stephanie: in his natural habitat, feelingnervous. you can see his heart beating out
of his chest from here. are you nervous? justin: well, there is a lot of people around,so i don't want to be the next meme. stephanie: too late. justin: too late. stephanie: i'm impressed, dugan. that wasworth it. that was worth getting up this morning. justin: guys, that's gonna wrap us up here.we do want to thank doug for coming out again and having a blast with us here in the sweepstakescar. you can check that video out on jalopnik.com and again, guys, the message of the videois be safe leaving your local cars and coffee, or local meets, whatever. just use your headand be sure to do it in a controlled environment.
stephanie: but if you are gonna do a burnout, don't be a little [bleep]. that's how you walk a burnout safely. hey, guys, the product break for this episodeis gonna feature the mmd rear diffuser for the s550 non-premium bumper. so that meansthe 2015 and up gt, the v6 and the eco-boost that have the base model bumper. so this thingjust went live on the site recently, so if you haven't seen it yet, that's why. so themajority of the rear diffusers that are out there right now are for the premium pack cars, which leaves the non-premiums with the already simplified rear bumper and nothing to addto it. mmd designed this to give a more aggressive, premium bumper look, so it extends outwardfrom the bumper. it's similar to the rear
diffusers for the premium pack cars, exceptit fits the non-premium bumpers. it's made from ads and its painted matte black, andit installs using two clips that are provided for you and some 3m tape. if you guys areinterested, you can head over to the product page and check it out more for yourselves.and speaking of new things, we recently had a little time to do a little build on a 2015gt that resulted in some handling performance and one of the loudest exhaust setups thati've heard, so take a look. justin: in the shop today, a really cool looking2015 triple yellow gt for a few parts that'll help increase the look, the sound and moreimportantly, the handling capabilities of the already pretty stout, performance-packedgt. now this car came to us with a couple
of basic performance mods already in place, such as long tube headers for instance, but was pretty much stock otherwise. the goaltoday, lower the car, get rid of that ugly factory wheel gap, and improve the handlingwith a couple of parts from eibach, add a very cool corsa quad tip exhaust system withthe help of the roush rear valance. now, we don't have a ton of work to do on this car,but there is some work involved so let's get to it. we knew we wanted to go low with this particularbuild, so that made the spring selection an easy one. we ended up installing the eibachsportline springs, which are known to be one of the lower spring offerings available inthe aftermarket, not just for the s550, but
also for the previous generation mustangsas well. now, i like these springs for a few different reasons. first and foremost, i lovea low, aggressive stance and these things are certainly going to deliver. you're lookingat 1.5 inches lower up front, 1.3 inches in the rear, which i know doesn't sound likea whole lot, guys, but the reality is with these new s550s, it doesn't take a lot tomake a big impact. secondly, guys, because the front is gonnabe considerably lower than the rear, you're gonna get plenty of rake, which is that oldschool iconic muscle car stance. looks really good on those old hot rods and guess what?might even look better here on the newer cars. now, we're not doing any wheels and tireswith this particular build here, guys, but
if we did, a great way to set off that loweredstance or that rake stance is by putting a big set of meats in the rear. it just reallysets it off, in my opinion. now, the eibach sportline springs are a progressive rate spring, guys, and what that means is the springs are gonna progressively get firmer the harderthey are pushed. i like these for a street car because they're gonna be pretty comfortableevery day on the street. thanks to that initial spring rate, but once you start driving thiscar a lot harder in the turns, that secondary rate is gonna kick in, gonna help keep thecar flatter in the turns throughout, and help reduce some of the body roll that can sometimesbe a tad excessive with these cars in stock form.
helping us further reduce that body roll ijust talked about, we also installed eibach's front and rear three-way adjustable sway bars.now, full disclosure, guys, eibach actually packages together the lowering springs andthe sway bars here in one convenient package, in this case, known as their sport-plus suspensionkit, and this is just a great way to help new gt owners lower their car, improve theirstance and improve their handling, with taking all of the guesswork out of the equation.now, if you like the idea of one of these pre-built suspension packages for your owngt, but maybe you don't wanna go as low as a sportlines here, eibach does also offera pro-plus suspension kit, gonna be a smaller drop overall, thanks to the pro-kit springs, but again, you're getting the same kind of
idea here, springs and sway bars all included. now, i do really like the idea of one of thesekits, again, guys, because it is taking all of the guess work out of the equation foryou. instead, these parts are designed to work together from eibach. now, i truly feelhere, guys, that installing a set of sway bars like we did here with this car is justone of those mods that you're gonna notice right out of the box. now, the differencein handling and steering feel are gonna be completely noticeable once you hit the streets, especially even more so when you pair them up with an aftermarket set of lowering springslike we did here with this '15 gt. honestly, guys, i'm really curious to see the differencein handling that this kit is going to provide
for this car, and in order to do so, i willbe taking this thing out here shortly and putting it through its paces a little bit.but first, we did install a couple of other parts so let's check those out. all right guys, again, like i said earlier, this thing did come to us with a set of long tubes already in place and it actually alreadyhad a cat-back installed as well. however, the owner did wanna make the switch to thealways popular quad tip exhaust system, which really has been taking off with the s550 crowdlately. unfortunately, guys, it's not as easy as just buying a brand-new quad tip exhaustsystem and bolting it right up. you do have to make room for all those tips with the rearvalance, much like the older s197s. now, a
relatively easy and relatively affordableway to do this is by adding the roush rear valance, and that's exactly what we did herewith this gt. now, this thing is only going to fit premiumpackage equipped cars because they do come with that factory two-piece rear bumper, andas you can see, the roush rear valance here pretty much takes place of the factory plasticwith the factory bumper. there is a small amount of modification to get this thing inplace here, meaning a little bit of drilling, a little bit of cutting, nothing too crazybut as you can see, the end result is definitely worth it. and since this is a roush part, the build, the materials, the fitment, the instructions, the hardware, everything iscompletely top-notch, which is only gonna
make your life a little bit easier when itdoes come time for the install. i do want to point out that roush offers two versionsof this rear valance here, one that is pre-drilled for the reverse sensors or backup sensors, and one that is not, with a slight difference in price between the two. so just make sureyou order the correct one for your ride. one thing i really do like about the roushrear valance is that it makes way for pretty much any after-market quad tip exhaust systemout there, which is nice because you have some options. this is a little different fromthat gt350 rear valance that we just mentioned, which at the time of this video really canonly be used with those ford racing by borla systems. that's not a bad thing, per se, butmore options is always better. speaking of
those exhaust options, let's get to the funstuff here and that is the system that's gonna be making a whole lot of noise here with thisparticular setup. the corsa xtreme cat-back with their black chrome tips. probably oneof the most attractive exhaust systems available in the aftermarket, has that black chromefinish, is just beautiful, but this is an exhaust after all, so let's talk about whatkind of noise you can expect when bolting this thing up. well, like i said earlier, guys, this thingis already rocking some stainless works long tubes so those working with that corsa xtreme, which is their most aggressive system by the way, should produce a sound that will absolutelyannihilate eardrums for miles around, while
terrifying small children and old ladies inthe process. now, what that does mean for you is that this thing will not drone at all,so with all that noise, all that carnage on the outside, should be relatively quiet onthe inside which is a nice thing to have on your side because a lot of aftermarket exhaustcompanies claim their systems don't drone and rarely follow through on it. corsa, onthe other hand here, nails it. now, if i were to guess, guys, the corsa xtreme cat-backwith its double helix x-pipe, along with the stainless works off-road long tube headersshould be a tad on the raspy side, but there's really only one way to find out. [bleep], that thing's loud. so we're in thetriple yellow 2015 gt. we just wrapped up
with this small build. again, just the suspensionstuff, the exhaust and the valance. we'll get to all that but first, this thing, wheni say it'll wake the dead, it will wake the damn dead. this thing is the loudest systemi've ever heard, hands down, bar none, whatever you wanna say. the long tubes in conjunctionwith the corsa xtreme is just effing loud. there's really no other way to put it. i likeloud things, my car is pretty loud, if there ever is a time where things might be justa little loud or maybe even a little too loud, this is it. maybe that means i'm getting alittle older. hell, i don't know but it's loud. oh my god. the nice thing about the corsais yes, it's loud, we've already established
that, but inside the car, i mean honestly, guys, it's not bad at all. if you were to use an xtreme on like a stock manifold car,for instance, it would be almost whisper quiet inside, but since we do have long tubes onhere, and again, since this is the xtreme with no cats, but at the same time you couldeasily carry on a conversation with somebody in here. meanwhile, on the outside, you'rejust melting faces left and right. it's awesome. oh my god, yeah. but while we aren't reallyhitting turns, it's probably a good time to point out that...that thing sounds good. it'sprobably a great time to point out that the springs and everything, despite the stance, ride really well. i mean, we're on stock dampers still. we're still on our stock struts andshocks.
now, granted you're gonna be putting a littlebit more stress on your factory stuff because the sportlines are so low and the factorydampers really aren't valid for that, or really aren't meant for that low ride height alongwith the firmer spring rate, so it might tax them a little quicker than the stock springswould. they might wear out a little quicker. that poor bastard right there had his headphoneson and he would've thought it was a mack truck barreling down on him. he got out of the wayquick. but the ride height on this thing, just muah. i mean, it's perfect, absolutelyperfect. it's low and it looks really good, but at the same time, it rides really goodstill. a lot of times when you go this low, you sacrifice your ride quality. that's notthe case here. it rides great. i mean, it's
definitely a little firmer than the factorystuff, there's no denying that. all right, guys, i finally got to a road wherei can have a little bit of fun here, at least. this thing feels healthy in turns. reallygoing through that about 70 without breaking a sweat. holy [bleep]! god, this thing soundsgreat opened up, just in any gear, too. ready? as if a yellow car couldn't get in troubleenough...one that has like atomic bombs coming out of the freaking exhaust system. and itrides great on the highway. i'm really impressed with these springs. yes, yes, i know i'm that[bleep]. it's tough being a mustang owner sometimes, you know? i'm just trying to havefun. making a couple of turns here, guys, let's see how this thing feels a little bit.very flat, very flat, i love it, feels great.
oh yeah, feels good. feels really good. well, guys, this is a smaller build in thegrand scale of things, right in regards to overall parts. we only installed a few things, but overall, the impact has been huge. i mean, let's run them down, right? ride height, check.this thing is sitting really nice. it looks absolutely amazing, even with the stock performancepack wheels. handling this thing is definitely improved already. even though we really haven'tpushed this thing or beat the hell out of it too hard in the turns, you can just immediatelytell things are a little tighter overall. the sway bars in conjunction with the springsare one of those mods that you don't have to wonder if it actually is doing its jobbecause you feel it. i mean, there's no denying
the improvement and handling at least capabilitiesof this thing in regards to body roll. and then last but not least, the exhaust.the star of this build, right? if you're a fan of loud things, you want your car to bethe loudest on the block, this is what you need right here. you need [inaudible 00:25:03]long tubes, no cats, and of course the xtreme system. the appearance too, man. i mean, thecorsa quads look amazing, totally transformed the rear end and the roush valance made itall happen. but overall, simple build, but with big results. i think i'll end it withone more gear pull, why not? all right, guys, we're outta here. i know it was a long one,but we hope you enjoyed it. stephanie: and we hope to see you guys outat our car show. stop by give us a high five,
say what's up. enjoy some of the awesome eventsthat we've got planned for you, and for all things mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com
