summer vacation letter to teacher

(gasp)my rock project! thanks mr. owl! mr. owl:you left it in the classroom, and i found itwhen i was cleaning up. this oneis my favourite. snail: it's really sparkly! now that wasa fun project. (chuckle)sure was! remember, mr. owl?

you told us to berock hunters! we were like realtreasure-hunters. and we foundreal treasures! harriet:bea and i will be goingto school soon, mr. owl, and then youcan teach us! of course, harriet! you'll learn your lettersand your numbers. harriet:we already know numbers. there is six and two,

ninely-ninely-nine-nine! bea:and eightzee-oand a hundredywondredy! (yelling out random numbers) harriet:...bizillion and three! (chuckles)my word! that's a lot of big numbersfor two little girls! but they're not real numbers,they're made up! oh. don't worry -when you get to school,

harriet and bea reallydon't know how to count. they're just little,franklin. they haven't beento school yet. yeah!wait a minute. that's a great idea,bear! it is? uhhh...what is? let's teach beaand harriet how to count before mr. owl comes backfrom the library as a surprise!

bear:put the chairs here,rabbit, and the books can go there. rabbit:right, right, right! i'll be the teacher -just like mr. owl. hah... bear, would you careto be my helper today? (laughing) sure! snail:hey! i'll be a student. that way i can show beaand harriet what to do. rabbit:me too! me too! me too!

franklin:rabbit! where are you going? rabbit:to play! it's not time for classuntil the bell rings. hey there,little sand fleas! (giggles) you're funny, rabbit! professor crazy ears!hello hello hello! bear:rabbit's right. no bell, no school.

okay, then... whoops.there's the bell. come on, girls!let's go. harriet and bea:huh? both:hu-uh. here we, come! huh? hey! ♪ sand, sand, sandin my hand ♪ (jingles bells louder)

let me handle this,franklin. psst! when the bell rings,it's time for school. ooooh. nobody told us. come on!follow me! okay! yipee! harriet:this is gonna be fun. bea:whoo-hooo!

rabbit:have a seat, girls. welcome to class everyone. today we'll beginwith something i love - math. what's math? (whispers)it's numbers. numbers!i love numbers! franklin:bea, if you have somethingto say to the class, you have to raiseyour hand first!

bea:oh... oh! oh! oh! yes, bea? i love numbers so muchthey make me dance! harriet: me too!rabbit: me three! and that's a number. harriet:one hundredly five. bea:sevensy-zillion. rabbit:eighty-a-twelve-o-bizillionand three!

(giggling)okay, i can sit too! franklin:you too, rabbit. rabbit:awww, carrotsticks. now i know it's funto make up numbers, but today i'm going to teachyou to count real numbers, the way mr. owltaught us. okay?

oh! oh!i know what that is! harriet, you haveto raise your hand! oh! (giggles)right! oh-oh-oh-oh-oh! yes, harriet. i know what that is! good, why don'tyou tell the... it's a snowman! rabbit:nice one, harriet!

it does look like a snowman! i've never noticedthat before! franklin: uh, class. well, i know it looks likea snowman but really it's a- mrs. turtle:who wants a snack? all:yay! crackers? yeah!yum! wait for me! franklin:class! class! wait! i didn't sayyou were dismissed! uh, later!

(sighs) bear:thanks mrs. turtle. franklin:ahem! now, class, this is not the timefor crackers - it's the time for math. bear: oh... okay.snail: right. rabbit:sorry. mom! i'm trying to runa school here! oh, sorry, sweetie!i didn't know.

i'll leave the crackersover here for when you're ready. thanks, mom! see ya later. okay, class. we'll have crackersat recess, but right now,it's math time! now, where were we? what's recess?

it's playtime! ooooo! when's that? recess is whenthe bell rings. oh! recess! ahhhh! let's go, go, go! bear: woo-hoo! class!

oh brother!i guess it's recess. harriet:♪ sand, sand, sand ♪ ♪ i love sand in my hand ♪ franklin:bea and harriet aren'tlearning anything, are they? they learnedthat a number eight looks like a snowman. hi, guys! harriet:hi, rabbit! franklin:i just can't get themto pay attention!

bear:they're just little kids,franklin. all they want to dois play. then how am i gonnateach them to count before mr. owl gets back? you'll figure it out. i don't know whyit didn't work. i tried to teach just the way mr. owl does. and we always learn stuffin mr. owl's class. yeah, but mr. owl's classis always fun too.

yeah... that's because mr. owlmakes it fun. hey... yeah!it is fun. remember when we didour rock project? yeah, mr. owl told us to pretend we weretreasure hunters, and then we all went diggingin the playground. now that was a lot of fun! right!

yes!(all cheer) snail:you try, bea! i counted too! bear:way to go, bea! franklin:there you go,now let's make a castle! wooo-hoo! ta-daaaa! oooh,it's beee-ooo-itful! can we put decorationson it?

franklin:sure! how about... (gasps)your special rocks? really? uh-huh. wow. ♪ one, two, threesparkly rocks ♪ i counted! bea:me too! ♪ one, two, threesparkly rocks! ♪

mr. owl:harriet! bea!you're counting! very good! harriet:yeah! counting like big kids! mm-hmm. harriet and bea:♪ one, two, threeshovels of sand ♪ ♪ one, two three... ♪ hmm. you're a good teacher,franklin. thanks. mr. owl. we pretendedwe had a school!

yup. and guesswhat time it is... it's recess! wooo! (chuckles) mr. owl, do teachers get to have recess too? i don't see why not!race ya! (laughing) (playful laughter) franklin:come on, you can help,harriet.

yo! whoa!nice crawl! it's the shoulder-roley-oley-oxen-free! ha! got it! awesome!can i play? rabbit:sure! just keep the ballin the air... fox:any way you can! and hey, bear,guess what?

i have a surprise for you that i know you're going to love! really? what? if i tell you now,it won't be a surprise! true. rabbit:ready, bear?here it comes! bear:ready! here's my"cottontail launch!" ooof! oops!

awww! almost had it. you'll get it next time! (grunts of effort) (exasperated sigh) agh! whoa! aww... check this out! coming through! (gasps) whoa!

hey! agh! oof! aw! (sighs)this just isn't my game. franklin: don't worry, bear. you just needto keep trying. i am trying! let me show you how. you just toss it. and when it comes down,bop it back up!

okay, i toss it. (grunts)then... bop it! whoa! snail: wow! fox: that is one strong bear. wow! hi, everybody! all:hi, snail! hey! snail:your new game looks fun.

can i try? franklin:uh... this ball'skind of big... big never stopped me. let 'er rip! o-kay. ungh!(giggles) snail comes on strong with the anti-gravityfull shell smash! fox: way to play!rabbit: wa-hoo!

even snail's betterat hoppity bop than me, and he's a lot smaller! all:wow! yeah! good game, snail! back atcha,green guy! i don't think bear likeshoppity bop very much. yeah, you're right. then i guess he's not gonnalike his surprise either. i asked aunt t to makea hoppity bop ball just for him.

maybe bear would likehoppity bop if he were better at it. that's it, fox! if bear playeda little better, he'd have more fun. so we should let him win! i want bear to be happy, too, but it sounds like you guysare gonna be tricking him. only so he'll bereally happy

when he gets his own ball. i still wouldn't wantto be tricked. that's why we won'tlet him know. i don't know, franklin.see ya, guys. let's give beareasy shots. then we can accidentallyon-purpose miss, but make it look likewe're really trying. hey! i'm the best at acting like the worst! coolio! come on!

hey, bear,want to play another game? it'll be fun,i promise. okay, i guess. franklin: here we go. agh!i hit that one! time for the "fluffy waggle swat!" oops! what?! my tail must havea hole in it! awesome.but it was just luck.

ugh! ready for my "searing ear-spike," bear? yeah! whoa, bear! you put a crazy spinon that! bear: cool. agh! i missed! oh dear!how could i miss the ball! you mean i'm stillin the game? you're way too goodfor clumsy old me, bear!

oh brother. that's enough, rabbit. guess it's down to youand me, buddy! (grunting) bear:whoa! (wobble)almost... got... it! agh! oh, drat! missed it.bear, you won! wha? woo-hoo!

i won! wow!that's a surprise. i didn't think i even touched the ball that last shot! see? hoppity bopisn't so hard once you figure it out! you're right! so, speaking of surprises... oh.it's almost ready.

aunt turtle:two hoppity balls,made to order! harriet:yay! thank you, aunt t! franklin:thanks, aunt t! here, harriet,let me show you how it works. (moans) awww! cute, sweetie. bedtime for the hoppity ball. that's not how you playhoppity bop. hey, if harriet has funwith the ball,

it doesn't really matterhow she plays with it. see, i even paintedbear's face on his! coolio! i was worried that bearwouldn't want it, 'cause he didn't likethe game. but now he likes it a lotsince we let him win. you let him win? are you sure that was a good idea, franklin? franklin:well, once bear practiceswith this,

snail:now what are you gonna do? i guess i just have to keep him winning. yah! make sure the ballstays in the air! beaver:(grunts) like this? heh. or this? franklin:you got it! rabbit: (announcer voice)wooo! nothing gets past beaver and her patty-cakepaddle shot! oop!

but the tornado-spin turtletriumphs! rabbit: (announcer voice) watch out for goose and her wing ding bounce! stompin' chompers,franklin! quit hogging the ball. give bear a chance! what do you mean? oof! got it! agh! that!

guess i wasn't readyfor it. okay. do over! i got it! i got it! wah! oof! oh-oh. franklin:are you okay, bear? bear:ouch. no. i'm terrible at thisgame today. i don't get it.

i was so good yesterday. what happened? ugh... well, um, yesterday... we kind of let you win. (gasp)you tricked me? sorry. both:we're sorry, too. franklin:but we didn'tdo it to be mean.

we just wanted youto have fun. there's nothing funabout knowing you're not goodat something. yeah, franklin. everybody knows that. i'm sorry.i made a mistake. i thought thatif you were having fun, you'd like playinghoppity bop with me. 'cause i really wanted youto like the ball

aunt t was making for you. well, i would haveliked it anyway, because you gave it to me, not just becausei was good at the game. oh, right. it's okay, franklin. maybe i'll givethe ball to bea, maybe she'll be goodat hoppity bop. you're good atso many other sports;

the best part is, whatever goes up,must come down! let me see how highi can hit the ball! pretty good. bet i can get it higher. and make the ball bounceten times. one. two. three.four. five. six. seven. eight.nine. ten! think your aunt t'll mindthat we're changing her game?

nope. as long aswe're having fun, it doesn't matterhow we play with it! i'll get mine to bounceeleven times! and what makesfun even fun-er is playingwith your best friend! laughs)whoo-hoo! (laughs)
